Going back 8000+ years ceramics has played a major role in architectural elements both in homes and in public spaces. In part one of this class we designed and started constructing a door surround for the studio entrance to QCC. In part two we'll continue construction of the door surround, refining architectural elements like mantles and columns, and add ornate detailing to complete the piece. Part one IS NOT a pre-requisite. If you’ve ever thought of making a fireplace surround, a mural, sconces, a column….this class will give you the foundation and knowledge to tackle any large (or small) architectural project. Some handbuilding experience required.
**Installation will not take place during the 8-week session due to drying & firing time. Students will be invited to participate in install when it occurs.
