In this class students will learn how to make and utilize terra sigillata, a refined slip, to create colorful and layered surfaces. We will use slabs and coils to build basic plate forms, perfect for practicing surface decoration.  A cone 6 clay body is recommended.  Terra Sigillata can be transclucent, so your clay body may affect your finished results.  Autumn likes a chocolate brown clay, but white can be a good choice if you want brighter colors.
