Finding Your Style is a ceramics course designed to help students clarify their artistic voice and develop a cohesive body of work. Co-taught by Residents Troll and Margaret, this class offers an in-depth look at how personal style evolves over time through intentional making, reflection, and research. Through lectures, artist case studies, and shared insights from the instructors’ own practices, students will explore how influences, life experiences, materials, and process choices shape distinct visual languages. The course emphasizes identifying recurring themes, forms, and ideas, and provides tools for moving from broad exploration toward focused, intentional work. Students will design and work on pieces throughout the class with regular input from the instructors as they develop and refine their portfolio. This class is open to ceramic artists of all levels who are interested in honing a subject, developing a recognizable style, or preparing to present a cohesive body of work for exhibitions, applications, or professional opportunities.
