Teddy Bear Velvet Underglaze is a chestnut color that is a warm tan at cone 05, darkens at cone 5, and lightens and begins to burn out at cone 10. A clear glaze accentuates the underglaze at cone 05 but burns out some color at cone 5 and cone 10.
For Teddy Bear Velvet Underglaze, we recommend using HF-9 Zinc Free Clear. If HF-10 Clear is used, color may shift.
HF-9 Zinc-Free Clear is recommended for use with underglazes to reduce the incidence of color shift. Most underglazes, stains, and coloring oxides will show their best color with Zinc-Free Clear.
Tableware producers must test all finished ware to establish dinnerware status, due to possible variations in firing temperature and contamination.
