Enjoy 2 days of demos from three nationally recognized artists! Heidi Mckay Casto, Fong Choo, and Naomi Peterson will be here demonstrating building techniques and surface decoration that they utilize in their work.
HEIDI MCKAY CASTO
Heidi McKay Casto lives and works in Iowa City and is a member of the Ceramics faculty at the University of Iowa. Casto creates objects at the nexus of function and sculpture adorned with playful design elements, anthropomorphic animal portraits, and vibrant colors.
NAOMI PETERSON
Naomi Peterson creates intimate objects incorporating elements that draw inspiration from confections, ornate garments and other indulgences. Using softness and embellishment as metaphor for comfort and pleasure, she embeds layers of personal experiences and history into each object.
FONG CHOO
Fong Choo is a Singapore-born, American-educated studio potter residing in Louisville, KY. He’s known for his signature diminutive teapots, paired with his use of low-fire commercial glazes fired to Cone 6 to achieve luscious, jewel-tone effects. Choo’s glaze mixtures aim to capture the dynamic flows that occur within the kiln.
