The sharp stainless steel spear-shaped blade cuts easily through layered slips: the line depth & thickness can be varied by changing the angle and amount of pressure applied. The twin-fork end creates either very fine double lines or a single wide line.

Many types of tools may be used, including needles, wire loops and clean-up and lace tools, but this tool is especially well suited to this form of decoration.
